Thank you to everyone who attended the Wounds Australia National Conference 2018.
The Conference was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone.
Welcome from Jan Rice, Conference Convenor
The Wounds Australia Board and 2018 Conference Organising Committee have been meeting regularly to ensure that the 2nd Wounds Australia Conference, to be held in Adelaide 24-26 October 2018, provides those attending a cultural as well as knowledge acquisition experience. Prior to the opening of the conference there will be a morning of much anticipated and requested workshops. These workshops have proved very popular at past conferences, so we encourage early registration to ensure satisfaction with your workshop selection.
The official opening ceremony and plenary guest speakers will open the windows of our minds to new concepts in the challenge to prevent and manage wounds. Conferences such as this highlight the current data on incidence, prevalence and major concerns of the wounds causing many of us concern in our daily workplace. Combining researchers, clinicians, theorists and practitioners provides the environment for problem solving. The Committee encourages you to bring your challenges to this conference-ask questions, meet experts and discuss current issues over a coffee in the Speakers Lounge.
Our Corporate colleagues have been quick to seize sponsorship opportunities and ensure that their staff are ready to demonstrate the new cutting edge products available in Australia. Clinicians are well aware that there are products in the pipeline and our Corporate colleagues are encouraged to keep us informed of what we can expect to see in the near future. The opportunity to interact with companies about their products and devices is an integral part of every conference.
The conference theme—Advancing Healing Horizons: Towards the cutting edge in wound care- encourages researchers to submit their ideas to a team of judges for a possible chance to win a cash prize which may assist in getting their ideas off the ground and into a reality. There is plenty of scope for new researchers to present with the possibility of 74 free regular abstracts and 24 three minute thesis abstracts.
Remember that Adelaide and South Australia is known as the festival state and so the social committee are beavering away to ensure that those attending this exciting conference are exposed to the culinary delights of the state together with artistic talents to keep us amused at the welcome reception and the Conference dinner.
Thank you to our Platinum Sponsor
